Soup season kicks off: 4 places to eat original versions

As an appetizer, as a main course or as a simple excuse to recover the heat on cold days, the soup is a winter classic. Far from being limited to a vegetable broth, this dish encompasses a world of flavors and colors. Following, proposals to venture into the most original, homely and comforting proposals on the market, by the hand of the LA NACION Club.

Organic only organic

The organic soup of the day, a perfect shield against the cold.

Bio is the first certified organic restaurant in Argentina and since 2002 is committed to taking care of the planet and health, offering complete food. Here we use vegetables and fruit harvested on the same day, cereals and flour from stone mills, oils from the first cold pressing and so on. It’s all organic, of course, plus they’re vegetarians by choice. And its menu also includes vegan dishes, raw, macrobiotic and wheat free. One of the classics on their menu is miso soup. Miso is a soy and rice ferment that over time becomes a paste and, in the case of Bio, has been fermenting for three years and contains aspergillus (a fungus / bacterium that can be used as a probiotic). The soup is made with this pasta, green onion and tofu. It is of Japanese origin and is used in macrobiotic diets. There is also the soup of the day, which can vary between: carrots with anise and coconut milk, okaido squash with cinnamon and orange, minestrone with oatmeal or Vietnamese soup (coriander, onion, coriander, chilli, coconut, walnuts and almonds).

Founded by Félix Rueda in 1993, this space offers European-inspired signature cuisine, an Argentine flair and fresh local produce of the highest quality. The menu changes every week, with the chef’s suggestions, excellent drinks and house specialties, which vary according to seasonal ingredients and cross the gastronomy of different countries. Some of the options are: kabutia and garlic soup with fried sage; pea and mint soup with smoked bacon powder; sweet potato soup with sweet potato chips; carrot, pear and ginger soup; pumpkin, apple and ginger soup; spinach soup with poached egg and Worcestershire sauce and a lot of French Vichyssoise (a soup made with leek, onion and potatoes). We recommend that you follow their social networks closely to learn about everyday dishes and let yourself be tempted by their creations. During this week – in addition to the daily proposals with Italian, French, Russian and Argentine specialties – the proposals are the tomato soup, bacon and thyme cream; roast picaña and shrimp pad thai.

Le Pain Quotidien celebrates the simplicity of fresh and nutritious food. Its name literally means “daily bread”, which is why they pay homage to the tradition of baking. Stone-ground organic soft wheat flour, sea salt and water mix with the mother yeast to give life to artisanal breads. These, in turn, inspire an infinite number of dishes: combined with organic and seasonal ingredients, cupcakes, toast, brioches, sandwiches … the whole menu makes sense thanks to the house bread. Behind every dish on the menu there are expert hands who prepare everything in an artisanal way and with the best raw materials. And they can be enjoyed at large common tables, the spirit of the brand and a symbol of community. Every Monday there is a new soup of the week, always made with seasonal organic vegetables. These days it is the turn of the onion soup, which is accompanied by baguettes au gratin with Parmesan cheese.

The Romero shop offers food foodie and healthy for every day. Every Monday the weekly menu is published on their social networks, with regular and vegetarian options. To this is added a dish foodie of the week, which in this case is the lamb ragout with mashed potatoes. In this way, they offer homemade, delicious and nutritious options for fresh and balanced eating. In addition, in via Ugarteche there are always dishes of the day, such as salads, cakes and envelops. The soup season officially started in May and they have a different one every day. Thus we can find vegetables, chicken, pumpkin, spinach, curry lentils and many others.
